[ ACTION (NEW BARK TOWN) ]

[Waking up in a strange world and being kicked out of the house you woke up in before you're fully awake is kind of weird. Nowi's still struggling to take in her surroundings as she leaves Mom's house. She's not used to getting up this early. "This early" is about ten in the morning, so it's not really early at all, but that's not the point. Nowi finally finds a nice patch of grass and flops down, lying on her back and stretching her arms above her head.]

Maybe I'll just get a little more sleep before I start that adventure or whatever...

[She should probably find the Shepards first though. Chrom will probably be annoyed that she's run off again. She doesn't recognize this place, but surely things will make sense eventually.

Nowi moves to push her hair out of her face only to come to a startling realization. She sits up immediately, reaching up to her ears.]

Wh-What!? What happened? Where are my ears!?

[Her ears aren't missing, they're just small. Instead of long, pointed ears, she's currently sporting human ones.]

How-- How did this happen!? What's going on!?

[Now that she's more awake and she's getting a better look at her surroundings, Nowi's beginning to tear up. Nothing here looks familiar. The buildings look completely foreign and not in the same way most of Valm looks foreign. They were last in a volcano, how did she get here? It isn't long before Nowi's in tears, rubbing her gloves across her eyes in a futile attempt to stop the tears.]

What's going on!?

[About an hour and a half later Nowi posts a video to the network. Well, it's probably not Nowi doing it, since she's not holding the 'Gear, but probably some poor sap she roped into helping her. The camera is angled down on her, which isn't really hard since she's so short.]

Hi! I'm not really sure how to start this, so I'll get to the point. I've been told that this is "Johto" or something, but I don't really care about that. I'm looking for a bunch of people! An army! We're called the Shepards and our leader-guy's name is Chrom, so if anyone's seen them, let me know!

[There's a pause while Nowi tries to remember what she was going to say. She tilts her head as she taps a gloved finger to her lips. It seems the cameraman (or camerawoman) has decided to keep the 'Gear focused on Nowi's torso, so you're not getting the full horribleness of her outfit. It's still pretty bad though. Yikes.]

Oh, right! I've got a question about my ears.

[She pushes her bangs back to show off her perfectly normal human ears.]

They're not supposed to be like this! They're like... long and pointy and stuff! They're really cute and not... tiny. These are human ears! I'm not a human!

[Way to just announce that, Nowi...]

And one more thing! What's this?

[She points to the ground and the camera pans down to show a Dratini curled up at Nowi's feet. She quickly hurries before the cameraman can say anything.]

Yeah, yeah, I know, a Pokémon or whatever, but that's not what I'm asking! Is it a dragon? It looks kind of like a dragon. It's kind of nice that someone gave me a dragon, but why was it in a ball? --Yeah, a Pokéball, that's not the point!

[She balls her hands into fists and stamps her foot as the camera moves to focus on her again.]

This is really annoying! What's going on around here? I was in a volcano last time I checked, so why am I here!?

[But as quickly as the anger comes it leaves her and Nowi sighs and folds her arms.]

Well, I guess that's all the questions I've got. So if you're listening and you've got some answers, let me know, okay? Thanks!

What's wrong with your ears?

They're tiny!

[She pushes her bangs out of the way to show that yep, those are some normal-looking ears.]

Normally they're like... long! And pointy! And not like this!

[Nowi traces her fingers in the air about where her ears should be. Yep, these are much tinier than what she's used to.]

What happened to them?

[Banjou is immediately struck by two distinct explanations of what's happening:

a) she's crazy, or
b) she's not human and is yet another victim of the whole becoming human problem non-humans run into here.]

Um...

[Well he's been here long enough to have seen this sort of thing happen before, this isn't about to out him.]

This place makes people who weren't human where they originally came from human. I... really don't know how it works. [Or how it's possible... Maybe he should focus on a different point.]

The animal with you is a Pokemon.

Human...

[Nowi screws up her face as she thinks.]

I guess there's really nothing I can do about it if there's no explanation. I don't wanna be human though.

[Something seems to occur to her then and she begins to backpedal frantically.]

Ahh-- I don't mean that there's something wrong with humans! I like humans! I like them a lot!! But I'm not one, so it's... pretty weird...

[Honestly, Banjou isn't offended at all, but that might be because he isn't human. He's not going to bother acting offended, though, instead just shrugging it off like it doesn't bother him.

A human would understand why it's a little weird to suddenly change species, right?]

Don't-- don't worry about it. I imagine it's pretty strange.

[Don't worry, Banjou! Nowi rolls with the punches and she's kind of dumb. She doesn't notice anything off about that response!]

Yeah, it definitely is. This is gonna take some getting used to...

[...]

So uh, what am I supposed to do here? Back home I'm fighting in an army against some guy who's trying to take over the world or something, so what should I do here?

[It works for him! This way, he won't get found out.]

Uh, well, I don't think people taking over the world is entirely something you need to worry about. Not usually, anyway.

[There is Cobra, and that guy who apparently is trying to rival Cobra, but neither of them are actively trying to destroy the world.]

I think you're just supposed to get as many Pokemon as possible. That, and battle them. They're both something like national passtimes here.

Huh... that's kinda weird. But I guess I can do that! So are there any dragons? I'm not sure if this one's a dragon or not.

[She points at the Dratini in explanation.]

[Fortuntely, Banjou is very familiar with the first 150 Pokemon! He knows a lot about others now, too, of course, but he doesn't even hesitate when he says:]

Oh, that's Dratini, it's a dragon-type.

Haha, I was right! You are a dragon!

[Nowi looks pretty triumphant about that, grinning at the Dratini. The Pokémon doesn't seem impressed.]

So are there other dragons?

I know a few more, but I don't know all of them.

[What types has he heard of here in Johto...?]

There's Salamence, Garchomp, Axew... I think Goomy's one, too.

Oh wow, there's a lot! There aren't many Manaketes where I'm from, so I'm really excited to meet all the dragons here! I'll have to see if I can get them all!

[He'd talk more about Pokemon, but something about that catches his interest.]

You're a dragon?

Yep! I can switch back and forth between my dragon form and this one pretty easily! But without my Dragonstone, that's not happening.

[That's... actually pretty cool.]

Too bad you can't show anyone that here.

[He's a ghoul, of course he's going to believe there are other species out there. Not where he's from, of course. But other worlds? Sure.]

Yeah. I'd love to check this place out from the sky, but it looks like I can't do that. But I'll be fine! I mean, I've gone without using my Dragonstone before it was just... different.

[And it involved riding a dragon which is about a thousand times cooler than just being a human.]

There's a Pokemon move that lets you ride them.

[Naturally Banjou doesn't have it but you know it's worth pointing out!]

I think you need to train for a while to get it, you need to take on a few gym leaders, but you'd be able to see the entire place from the sky.
